| Shared note | Catherine was listed as "Katey Buttler" on Hannah's marriage certificate, 1898. Notes on children: Other possible children were John Ladrigan, b 1867, David Lonndrigan, b 1870. These two boys were on the 1880 census. Martha Landrigan, b 1868 Mary Landrigan b 1872. The two girls were listed in the 1880 census as age 12 and age 8. The school had no listing of them on their school records under Landrigan, Lundrigan or any L name. John and David are "biblical names", which was part of the story that Grandma told. But what about Peter or Patrick? Are these Michael, the father's, brothers? Baptism records, St. Mary's Baptisms Oct. 1847- Aug 26, 1869, list the first 4 children as "Landrigan". Martin and Mary A. are listed as "Lundrigan". Even Hannah's marriage certificate lists her name as Hannah "Landrigan" even though she was a "Lundrigan" as far as I remember Grandma referring to her. Michael was listed in the Protectory as "Loundrigan" and on the census as "Laundrigan" which makes me think that is the way they pronounced Lundrigan. In April 1879, Michael would have just turned 11, [school records right] and in 1880, he would be 12 [1880 census right]. Older sister Mary would be 13, [about to turn 14 in Sept.] in April 1879. Could she be the "Martha Landrigan" who was 13 in the 1880 census? Was "Martha" her confirmation name? Kate was 8 in apr 1879 and 9 in 1880, Maggie 7 in 1879 and 8 in 1880. Hannah was 6 when admitted, 1879, and 7 in 1880 census. Martin was 4 when admitted, 1879, and 5 in 1880 census. Mary A. was 2 when admitted in 1879 and 3 on the 1880 census. In 1881, [6/27/1881] the two oldest kids, Michael [age 13] and Kate [age 10], were d/c'd to the father. 9 months later, March 1, 1882, he got the other girls, Maggie [age 10], Hannah [age 9] and Mary A. [age 5] but left Martin [age 7] in the Protectory until Aug 26, 1883, when he was then d/c'd [at age 9] to his father. Perhaps he was sick, but he went back into the Protectory May 24, 1884 [age 9] and remained there until he "died." Oct 10, 1889, [age 14] was listed as death date by the Protectory. Hannah was "returned" for 2 months in 1886, from 5/21/1886 to 7/11/1886. Then Hannah was "sent out on trial" in July 1886, age 13. Who did she go with? Mary A. was "returned" 3/1/1887 [age 10] and remained in the protectory until age 16, when d/c'd to Hannah, Aug 23, 1893, to 11 Livingston Place, "NYC." (Hannah was 20 years old and marries by age 25.) How did Mary A. support herself when Hannah married? "Nurse," as in 1900 census? |
