| Shared note | Uncle Allison served with the U.S. Army Signals Corps during World War II in India. First, he was part of a U.S. liason group with the British military in New Delhi. Later, he was part of the radio support group for the "hump" air ferry operation from India to China, one of the most weather-hazardous routes in the world. He met Aunt Bernice during the war, while she served in the U.S. Marines Quartermaster Corps at Perris Island NC. I think she said they met in Milton. After the war, Uncle Allison obtained a degree in geology (at Milton College?) and worked for Shell Oil Co. in Long Beach CA and Billings MT in one of its oil exploration units. Later he became an officer in employee credit unions in Duluth MN and Milwaukee WI, ending up as director (I think) of the Wisconsin Credit Union Ass'n. He retired to Watertown WI and later moved to Sauk Centre MN. He was an avid bicyclist and rode over 1500 miles a year both on trails in Minnesota and on trips. |
