"Ed" Davis, Sr. - 76 7/21/1933 - 10/23/2009 Clinton - Edwin E. ``Ed´´ Davis, Sr. age 76 of Clinton died Friday, October 23, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 27th at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Dick Jewell, Scott Reese, Dan Armstrong, Mike Armstrong, Jim Smith and William Davis, Jr. Ed was born in Clinton, Iowa on July 21, 1933, the son of Edward H. and Grace Mary Johnson Davis. He married Billie Jean Emma Kersey on November 10, 1951 in DeWitt. Ed was a union construction worker and commercial fisherman. He was a part time farmer who enjoyed raising chickens, ducks, and hogs. He loved to fish and planted a large garden every year. Ed is survived by his wife, Billie Jean; four sons; Mike (Sherry) Davis, Edwin (Barbara) Davis, Jr., William Davis, Sr. and Paul (Rhonda) Davis all of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine (Ray) Gordon of Mesa, AZ and Eloise Krajnovich of Newton, IA; and best friends, John Armstrong, Dick Jewell and Ron and Liz White. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a great grandson, Devon Davis who passed away on May 31, 2008; three brothers; Edward, John and Roy and a sister, Janice.
