| Shared note | There were 8 children born to this marriage: Ellen Barrett Butler and Andrew Jefferson Davis Ellen Barrett Butler was married to Andrew Jefferson Davis (son of Melvin Hopkins and Permelia Lydia Lockwood) on 22 Dec 1863 in Atlanta, Macon Co., Missouri. Andrew Jefferson Davis was born on 31 May 1831 in Rochester, Monroe Co., New York. He died on 6 May 1905 in Marceline, Linn Co., Missouri. In his youth, Andrew, in 1853, went to California, where he engaged in m ining for nearly two years. He then moved to Missouri and settled in C lark County, where he began the study of medicine. He subsequently att ended lectures in Chicago, and soon afterwards began to practice medici ne in Clark County. He afterwards removed to Grundy County, Missouri w here he remained two years. He then settled in Bedford, Livingston Cou nty, Missouri, where he continued his practice for four years more. Fr om there he moved in 1866 to Bucklin, in Linn County, Missouri, where h e practiced medicine until 1874, when he moved to a farm five miles sou thwest of Bucklin, and engaged in farming. In 1888 he became one of th e earliest residents of Marceline, Missouri and lived there for the rem ainder of his life. Ellen Barrett Butler and Andrew Jefferson Davis had the following children: 1516 i. Charles Hardin Davis was born on 21 May 1865. He died on 8 Apr 1867. 1517 ii. Armella Davis was born on 31 Jul 1867. She died on 20 Oct 1868. 1518 iii. Jay Herbert Davis was born on 9 Dec 1869. He died on 11 Mar 1872. +1519 iv. Victor Leon Davis. +1520 v.
