Built Cylburn Mansion, constructed of locally mined (Bare Hills) gneiss, completed in 1869, as a summer house. Tyson made his forune from chromite mining in the Baltimore, Maryland USA area. Cylburn Arboretum is a nature preserve and Baltimore City Park. The Cylburn Mansion is the headquarters for both Baltimore city's horticultural Division of Recreation and Parks, and the Clyburn Arboretum Association, a non-profit corporation which contributes to the gardens, woods and grounds.
