Ref. 23 (p.351) suggests, inconsistently with the burial entry at p.8, that Richard Carpenter was born in 1580, was a vicar at churches in Amesbury, Bristol and Wrington, was a dissenting clergyman who was compelled by the Star Chamber to go into exile in France from 1635 to 1640, was living in Amesbury in 1670, and died before 14 Dec 1671. His best work was published in 1641: "Experience, History, and Divinity". Ref. 3, 6, 22. |
