Shared Note
Served eight 3-month periods and two 1-month periods in the Revolutionary War, as a private and drummer, from March 1777 to December 1781. He participated in the Battle of Monmouth. Later he received a veteran's pension. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 97)‎.
Owned 2 mills in Clarksburg WVA area. Ordained as SDB minister in 1780, and became pastor of Salem SDB church. Became pastor of Lost Creek SDB church as well in 1805. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 97)‎.
In 1812, he bought a farm on the Mad River between Springfield and Dayton OH. He moved to back to Harrison county WVA in 1814, after his wife Marvel died, and bought 340 acres southeast of Clarksburg WVA. He resumed his pastoral duties in Salem and Lost Creek, and continued these until his death. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 97)‎.
Buried at Broad Run Cemetery, 2 miles west of Jane Lew, Lewis county WVA. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 97)‎.
