Served 8 tours of duty as a private in ther New Jersey Militia in Monmouth county for a total of 19 months from 1776-1779. Most of the time he was scouting and guarding the coastline. He participated in the Battles of Monmouth and Germantown, where he served under General George Washington. He received a veteran's pension. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 101)‎.
Emigrated from Shrewsbury NJ to Salem WVA in 1789. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 102)‎.
He and his wife Elizabeth died within 4 hours of each other. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 102)‎.
Buried in SDB Cemetery in Salem WVA. A new military headstone was placed on his grave in 1976. Ref. 40 ‎(p. 102)‎.
